Can you LOOSE weight and GAIN muscle at the same time?

Posted in Loose Weight Gain Muscle  by admin on January 28th, 2011

Right, i need to loose 18KG (overweight and flabby atm). Isit possible to loose weight and gain muscle at the same time?

By muscle i mean Biceps, chest etc, im running and i do weight lifting at the gym regulary. Controlling my diet etc, if i do both will it take longer to loose weight ?

Should i loose weight first and then try muscle?

Thanks in advance

Your workout looks good as well as your nutrition. To answer your question, you can lose body fat, which will increase your lean body mass.

This might not be the most helpful answer, but muscle weighs more than fat. You can lose FAT and gain muscle, but you would be gaining muscle mass as well. So you may be running in place or even gaining weight, even if you’re losing fat. :(

Sounds like you’re doing everything right.

You absolutely should be gaining muscle as you burn fat and it seems like that’s what you’re doing. A healthy diet is essential since that is the glue to holding your weight loss routine together. Running is one of the best and most effective forms of cardio which burns fat and the weight training strengthens your muscles which puts them into high calorie burning mode. So keep it up and you will get the results you want.

One thing to remember.. stay off the scale. It’ll lie to you. As you lose fat, the numbers go down.. but as you gain muscle the numbers will go up because the muscle weighs more so you might think that you’re doing something wrong but trust me.. you’re fine. Stick to your diet!!

    Good luck!!
